What is personal data and what is the processing of personal data?

Personal data is all information that can be directly or indirectly, together with other data, linked to a living physical person. This means that widely different tasks such as names and contact details, membership numbers and other information such as e-mails constitute personal information.

Processing of personal data means how the personal data is being used. Every action that is taken using personal data constitutes processing, whether performed automatically or not, e.g. gathering, registering, organizing, structuring, storing, processing or modifying, producing, reading, using, transferring by transmission, spreading or otherwise providing, adjusting or merging, limiting, deleting or destroying data.

1. Who is responsible for your personal information?

Tankesmedjan Oikos, Org.nr 802481-4512, box 3658, 103 59 Stockholm, The Swedish Foundation for Swedish Conservatism, Box 3658, 103 59 Stockholm (in this policy called “tankesmedjan Oikos”) is responsible for processing your personal data when we process them for our own purposes.

The think-tank Oikos’ goal is that you should feel confident that your personal privacy is respected and that your personal information is processed correctly. We take responsibility for the fact that the personal data processed by Oikos must only be for intended purposes and protected against unauthorized access. All processing of personal data within Oikos aligns with applicable personal data legislation. Within the EU / EEA published from May 2018, current legislation is the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. How and why do we process your personal data?

Contributions: We process our contributors personal information, information about the identity of the donor, what contribution has been made and the size of any contribution.

Newsletters: We process information about names and email addresses that is being provided voluntarily when anyone agrees to sign up to any newsletter or send-out mail.

Data: Data created when you use any of our services – e.g. when you visit our website, contact us via email, or sign up to any of our events.

3. For what purposes is personal data processed?

To continuously provide you with information about activities and events and news hosted by the think-tank and foundation.

4. How long do we store your personal data?

The think-tank Oikos will keep your personal data as long as it is needed to meet the goals that the data is being stored for. The length of the data storage period depends on the purpose for which the data is processed. We regularly delete any personal information that is no longer needed.
